Diabetes is on the rise globally, which potentially and silently affects blood vessel and nerve health. At every healthcare encounter, a patient is "seen” but not appreciated for how they interpret the world with potentially damaged nerves from diabetes progression. Unless a trauma has occurred, neuropathy does not exist in isolation and leads to sensory dysfunction and impairment. This impacts a myriad of outcomes detrimental to the person’s independence, overall care, and resource utilization. This session outlines how health professionals can address and identify vulnerabilities at every contact point utilizing free or inexpensive devices while incorporating the multidisciplinary team for appropriate evaluations for additional support for a healthier trajectory.
