M03 - Crisis Intervention: The Need for Sleep!

Sleep deprivation is recognized by the CDC as a public health crisis in this country. Getting enough quality sleep is essential to our health and emotional well-being. Sleep deprivation impacts the homeostasis of our bodies, including the brain, kidneys, heart, muscle, and immune system. Lack of sleep nearly triples the risk for T2D and leads to a 50% higher risk for obesity. This session includes assessing sleep patterns and how we can intervene by addressing nutrition, medications, A1c, weight, and activity. A small change in individual sleep patterns can have a major impact on health.
