Up to 40% of people with T2D meet the criteria for binge eating disorder, yet specialist psychological support is rarely part of the treatment pathway. Emotional and binge eating are significant factors in both diabetes distress and therapeutic inertia, and many health professionals are frustrated by not knowing how to effectively support patients with disordered eating. This practical session will help you: determine if emotional or binge eating is present for people with T2D, reduce emotional or binge eating in response to stress or distress, and use several new tools to collaboratively reduce diabetes distress and/or break through therapeutic inertia together.
