Despite robust evidence supporting the positive impact of the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) and Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) for people with these conditions, engagement in these services continues to be low. There are clear health inequities in populations who access these services as well. Located directly in communities, pharmacies are well positioned to address the need and to equitably engage people in these services, however, the administrative burden of these structured programs can easily overwhelm limited pharmacy resources. This session will discuss ways that pharmacies can reach underserved populations with necessary diabetes treatment and prevention services in ways that reduce administrative burden.
