Our tech-saturated world has diminished healthy coping. External stimuli like the internet, social media, and phones extend into constant distractions, exacerbating cognitive impairments beyond internal factors. This impacts memory, focus, and processing, making diabetes management and healthy living more challenging for people with diabetes (PWD). For clinicians, it complicates our work and self-care. This session explores how external distractions interfere with healthy coping and diabetes management, offering practical strategies for clinicians and PWD. Attendees will learn how to address cognitive impairments to improve coping skills. Additionally, the session will provide clinicians with tools to navigate the challenges related to these external and internal distractions.
